The one star rating of product due single to in the dead of night arrival of product, which was a major disappointment for intended gift recipient. Had Amazon been able to provide right information concerning when to expect delivery of this product, we would have paid more for express shipping. Product indoors approx 5 days past expected latest due date.
I should have known better than to buy a Garmin product. I’ve never seen one that works reliably.
I build my routes by Garmin’s MapSource and then download them to the Handheld. When I then try to follow the routes (bike or car), it just won’t stick to the route I download. Some of its favorite tricks are to re-route me onto roads that are not section of the route I set up, and to direct me miles out of my way to reach some seemingly arbitrary top that it picks so that I can then backtrack to my early top to follow my route. For model, on a recent bike ride, I was early on Rt. 138 from a top about 1/4 mile EAST of I-684 and my first leg was to head EAST. As quickly as I started riding, it wanted me to curve around and head WEST to I-684, curve around, and then head east on Rt. 138.
I’m going to see if I can return this thing (unfortunately, I’ve owned it for over 30 days). If I can’t, I have a nice huge sledge hammer in the basement.
Save physically some grief and do NOT buy it.
I have not been able to get greatly usage out of it yet. I reckon it will be everything I wanted, I’m very pleased at this time.
I don’t know if any device maker can still find such a lousy LCD screen to place into their design; the LCD screen of this product reminds me a 1980 PC with really terrible graphics show, and they still manage to charge people with a premium price. Nowadays, a $500 PC with more expensive components has a screen greatly larger and better. This small device made by Garmin is a rip-off, just from the LCD top of view.
This small baby works a treat! Fantastic technology at a fantastic price! Please note that, contrary to its name, you do not have to be a US Marine to own and operate one of these. I was worried for a while that my order would be rejected on the grounds I never did military service, but I guess anyone can buy one. Fantastic news!
